Oral
HISTORY
Directory
1st State Stories contains oral histories about Delaware or by Delawareans
from collections across the State and Country.

As a source, oral history must be analyzed and interpreted as carefully as any other document in the research process, but is no more biased or inaccurate than many written sources. The growing acceptance of oral history as a research technique and a documentary process since the 1960s
has "democratized" the historical record to include groups such as women, minorities and common people, giving a more inclusive and accurate view of the past.
The interview transcripts included on this website are in collections accessible to the public. Any questions about a transcript on this site should be directed to the , who will communicate with the appropriate repository.
